About Volunteerism in Rancho Cordova

Rancho Cordova has always been a community full of people who are willing to give their energy, passion, and time to support their friends and neighbors.

It was with that spirit in mind when the City of Rancho Cordova’s Community Engagement Division developed a Volunteer Program in 2012 to provide volunteer support for city staff and to support the many volunteer-based organizations doing great work in the Rancho Cordova community.

Volunteer Central

Since 2012, the tools and technology for supporting volunteerism has progressed greatly. The community has also evolved, and there are more organizations than ever doing amazing work with the help of community members who are interested in lending a hand.

Taking into consideration those factors and seeing the need for a centralized location for volunteer education and outreach in Rancho Cordova, in 2022, the Community Engagement Division contracted with Galaxy Digital to develop a web-based volunteer platform.

On May 2, 2022, the Volunteer Central platform went live with a terrific and diverse pilot group of city, local and regional organizations utilizing volunteers in the community. Here are our pilot organizations:

Volunteer Central offers many tools and benefits to both volunteers and Volunteer Agencies/Organizations. Here are a few examples:

Volunteer Central in the Future

The City of Rancho Cordova and the Community Engagement Division will continue to develop Volunteer Central into a robust "one stop shop" for volunteerism in Rancho Cordova by encouraging the service minded community to join and to continue to bring on new organizations so they can share their mission and needs with the community.
