Join artist Matthew Cavanaugh in transforming the crosswalk at Lincoln Village Drive and Viking Drive into “Sunset on the River” — a flowing mural inspired by movement, nature, and our local waterways. Using geometric color fields and layered gradients, the mural reflects the rhythm of the American River at dusk, guiding pedestrians safely across the street while encouraging drivers to slow down. With its horizontal waves of warm colors, this mural makes the crosswalk not only safer but unforgettable.
All are welcome to join! Volunteers will work side-by-side with City staff and artists to make the asphalt art come to life.
No experience needed. All materials provided — just bring your energy and your best river-inspired vibes!

- Meet at City Hall at 7:15am for check-in and kick-off celebration.
- Free breakfast at City Hall from 7:15am-8:30am for all volunteers.
- Check-in at City Hall with volunteer organization booth is required before heading out to volunteer activity at 8:30am.
- Youth under 18 years of age must have a waiver signed by their parent or guardian.
- Youth under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
- Be on the lookout for future emails with additional event details, including final details about your event, as we get closer to May 17th.
