Fitrah

Fitrah was born from a single, life-changing encounter. In 2018, our founder met a 60-year-old woman who had spent 19 years homeless on the streets of Sacramento. That moment sparked a powerful question: How do we stop this from happening to the next generation? Fitrah became the answer. We are a youth-led social enterprise committed to preventing homelessness before it begins. We believe every young person carries innate dignity, resilience, and brilliance. When given opportunity, mentorship, and meaningful work, young people don’t just survive — they thrive. Fitrah exists to walk alongside Sacramento County’s most vulnerable youth — especially those who are system-involved, disconnected, or at risk — and create real pathways toward stability, purpose, and independence. We are not just a program. We are a community of belonging.

We provide paid job training, mentorship, and life skills development in environments that build confidence and real-world experience. Through Fitrah Finds, our thrift shop at the Folsom Blvd Flea Market, youth gain hands-on retail experience. They learn customer service, inventory management, financial literacy, teamwork, and the pride that comes from earning their own income. In our autoshop-based programs, youth are introduced to technical skills, responsibility, and career pathways in the automotive field. They build practical skills while developing discipline, collaboration, and a long-term vision for their future. Beyond job training, we offer consistent mentorship and wraparound support so every young person knows they are seen, valued, and capable of building a life they are proud of.
